Buttermilk with mint and ginger

Buttermilk with mint and ginger:
            This is a refreshing drink and a perfect way to finish off the meal. It is light and smooth, the mint & ginger leaves you with a clean palette and tummy.
Serves: 4-5 people.
Prep time : 10 mins.



For the buttermilk:
Thick yogurt: 1 cup.
Water: 2 cups.
Ginger: 1/2 inch piece.
Mint leaves: few sprigs.
Salt: to taste.


1.Blend the yogurt, salt and water until smooth.
2.Crush ginger to a paste. Add to the buttermilk and chill.
3.Serve in small madkas garnished with a sprig of mint.

              Please do not take out the mint when you drink the buttermilk. Chew the mint and swallow along with the drink. You can add green chilli with coriander leaves and a pinch of asafoetida or tempered mustard seeds, red chillies with curry leaves for variations.
